WHAT:  Air Plant Hanger Workshop

DATE:  Saturday 16 May

MORE: Bring some luscious plant life indoors, by creating your own air plant hanger with a hand-painted design of your choice!

During this workshop, you will be provided with a ready-made wooden hanger, and you will design your own artwork (using one of the templates provided, or try your hand at painting freestyle!). You will then choose your own air plants and assemble together your hanger, ready to take home! Run by the established artist Melissa Carey, this is an intensive workshop aimed at beginners, aged 18 and above.

What you get: one handmade air plant hanger per person, new crafty skills, a scrumptious homemade delight with herbal tea, chats and smiles. All materials and equipment will be provided (The wood used is recycled timber from old fences - some pieces will have rustic edge, some will be clean cut). It will be run by the established artist Melissa Carey, and held in her art studio, which is a haven of creatives/makers/designers all under one warehouse roof, located in Alexandria, Sydney. This workshop is for beginners, no experience needed, for ages 18 and above.

So come and be inspired, unleash your creativity, get back to your roots, learn new skills, get your fingers moving, and be immersed in the present moment. After all, that's what craft should be all about! Lock in your next craft session and take time out for yourself, or bring a friend for a unique night out!

WHAT:  Women's Business

DATE:  Saturday 23 May

MORE: Understanding hormones, the menstrual cycle and the importance of fertility (not just for making babies!) can be a lifelong learning process for a woman.

While age, life stages/milestones, and the surrounding environment have an affect on each of the above, there are important factors which all women should understand in order to best be able to manage each of these stages…and be in the best position to work with their bodies, not against.

During this three hour, focussed workshop with Dr Amanda Waaldyk (there are just 14 places), the following will be explored and discussed:

    • Breaking down our menstrual cycle
    • Understanding what is considered a normal period
    • Understanding PCOS, and how it affects our hormones
    • Endometriosis and how it affects our menstrual cycle, and fertility
    • Learning specific foods to eat that support each stage of your cycle and hormones; flow, follicular, ovulation and luteal
    • Breathing exercises we can do to reduce stress and hormonal fluctuations
    • Exercise – too little or too much? What types of exercise you should be doing to support hormonal health, and fertility for wellness.

WHAT: Cragieburn Community Film Night

DATE:  Friday 15 May

After years of back-breaking toil in ground ravaged by the effects of man-made growing systems, Paul Gautschi has discovered a taste of what God intended for mankind in the garden of Eden. Some of the vital issues facing agriculture today include soil preparation, fertilisation, irrigation, weed control, pest control, crop rotation, and PH issues. None of these issues exist in the unaltered state of nature or in Paul’s gardens and orchards. “Back to Eden” invites you to take a walk with Paul as he teaches you sustainable organic growing methods that are capable of being implemented in diverse climates around the world.

Entry: Free, gold coin donations accepted with proceeds going towards gardening supplies for the community garden.
